XOR

Xor is a strategic game to test spatial insight.
With walkers (shields) all happy masks are to be removed before one reaching the door.

One walker can be moved in the row or column with the cursor and with the arrow-keys on screen and a keyboard.
The Delete-key withdraws the last step(s).
"<5" undoes the last five steps.
"<<" and the Home key go the begin situation.
"view" resizes the view in steps between original and full size.
"walker" and the Enter-key gives mobility to the other walker.
"video" replays done steps. After a break the video continues when deviant steps are stepped back.
"save" stores the current situation for sixteen days (as a cookie) and replaces an earlier storage and is available as soon a mask is captured.
"load" restores the saved situation and is available until a mask is captured, as after "<<". A cookie can be removed with a step before "load".

Once a game is selected, play does not use internet.
A keyboard is not necessary. Speed, color and sound and are not functional; there are no random events.

Mazes below are in increasing complexity order.
Play Together to learn by experience the properties of the few characters and objects in Xor games. This maze has intriguing situations.
The Cave is the most complex Xor maze, for experienced Xor gamers.

The game Xor is created by Paul Carruthers and Ian Downend for the Atari ST and Amiga. Paul formed Astral Software Ltd in 1987.
The player here is a remake of Xor by 'Astral 1981 / JvdLingen 1989' on the Macintosh computer of those days, in 2004 programmed in javascript by Rob Veldhuyzen van Zanten.
In the original Macintiosh game the display is fixed to 7x7 fields, and a restart is required after each misstep, making the goal almost unreachable.
There to start The Cave, one has to type the code, received at the exit of Together.
The player here is tolerant, enjoy your game.

Solutions of the original BBC serie gave letters; 'The Decoder' helped to find a word.
My modifications in the Amiga serie are adopted in 2007 in "XOR Procyon". "Wheel of Fortune" therein was renamed Ophiuchus and "The Hidden Cavern" Crux.
